Skin Care Pyramid: How to Get Great Skin

Posted on

It's been awhile since I've posted anything on beauty, so I thought I would give a few basic tips that people tend to miss out on when trying to clear up their skin...

Cleanse:  Cleansing is absolutely essential if you want to have radiant skin.  I try to cleanse my skin at least twice a day with this purifying cleanser:

Moisturize:  I always have moisturiser on because my skin goes through a lot.  Between makeup and the cold air and hot showers and washing, I'm pretty sure everyone's skin needs some moisture.  Here's my go-to moisturizer:

Exfoliate:  The two ways that I exfoliate are with a chemical exfoliator (Retin-A) and an exfoliating brush.  This step is important to get off all of the dead skin cells and to clear pores.  It also helps to make your skin look less dull and more fresh.  Here's the exfoliating brush that I use about twice a week:

Protect:  If you want to keep your skin youthful and healthy, protect it.  The best way to do that is to make sure you're using products with SPF in them whenever you leave the house.  I use a foundation that has SPF in it and my moisturizer also has SPF.  Another way to protect your skin is to make sure you don't pick at it.

Tone:  There are differing opinions about the importance of toning, so that's why it's at the top of the pyramid.  I think that it depends on what kind of skin you have, but sometimes toning is essential if you want to restore your skin's PH balance.  There are many types, so look for a toner that suits your skin's needs.
